when you can have people come pick it up at your house?
At the apartment I just moved out of we've got some furniture left behind that no one wants to take with them. So I stopped by last night, took some photos and then posted them to craigslist under the "free" category. For the futon that none of us wants, I literally had at least 15 emails in the first hour. And other people were also willing to take away my old desk and a loveseat that no one wanted. Now the people I promised them to better show up and bring some muscle. I'm not giving stuff away for free just to have to move it myself.

For my last apt. in Provo I bought all my furniture on craigslist and then when I moved to AZ I sold it all back for the same price. It was great. Next time ask for 10 ro 20 bucks-- seriously! I love craigslist!
Craig's list is awesome as well as yard sales. Our neighborhood has a combined yard sale every 6 months. People buy stuff I would be embarrassed to post on craigslist. Also I've sold things on craigslist that I never in a million years thought would be desired by people. One guy came up to me looked a a book entitled Wildlife of North America that looked like it was made for teenagers (not an actual field guide). He said "Oh yeah that's a good book - I have one like that." Then he proceeded to hand me fifty cents and said "I think I'll get it anyway." 50 cents out of $120 for stuff I would have paid the garbage man to haul away. Can't beat that.
