Watch This Wednesday #27: Pizza? Now thats what I call a taco!

Probably a fair number of you out there have seen this crazy SNL commercial for Taco Town, but if you haven't its pretty funny. My main point today is that if you haven't checked out hulu.com you definitely should. Its a video site where both Fox and NBC and the stations they own are hosting lots and lots of video online. There's the latest episodes of new shows, old seasons of old shows, even full-length movies. And new stuff gets added all the time. Check it out and you'll probably find something you want to watch.

one of my all time favorites! Regarding hulu, its a good thing NBC went so crazy on youtube so they could be the ones to give it all away for free.

Well there are some subtle distinctions for NBC, I guess. These files have embedded commercials that someone is paying them money for, and they also have links to purchase episodes included, so maybe they'll earn a few dollars that way as well. I'm sure they aren't making much money off it, but at least they are getting something, rather than having everyone give their content away for nothing.

Jake is correct. The value of online commercials hasn't reach that of television yet, but it's only a matter of time. Studies have shown that viewers pay closer attention to commercials paired with online shows than they do with typical television commercials; so it's only a matter of time before the prices catch up.

Viacom (owner of CBS, MTV, etc.) has been the biggest opponent of YouTube, and is the one that filed the huge vicarious copyright liability suit. Until only recently, NBC had its own channel on YouTube, rife with links to short clips just like those on Hulu.

I've been using Hulu since the beta invite program a few months ago, and think it's pretty awesome. If only they'd switch over to Move Networks (Paul & Ben's co, Jake) technology (the one that powers byu.tv and espn360, along w/ abc.com), it'd be oh so much faster and free from buffering.

This is a great commercial. I really got a chuckle out of it. I know I'm really out of the loop, but this was my first viewing. Thanks for posting.

I hope you're OK with a comment not at all related to your video post. :) I wanted to tell you that I met your cousin and her family (Sara and Darin Winn). My husband matched with the same residency program in Muncie, Indiana that Darin is attending. So we're moving to Indiana and will likely be seeing them quite a bit. It turns out that Darin used to be my brother's home teacher, too. Small world.

Yeah, Sara mentioned that a girl in my program's husband had got a spot out there, so I kind of suspected it was you. They're great people, so hopefully you all will get along swimmingly.
